What is Art Deco? |
Art Deco, short for "Arts Decoratifs" took its name after the Paris world fair of 1925. Art Deco represented an era of glamour and luxury in a robust economy of the 1920's. Art Deco reflected the feelings of people who believed in a solid and bright future and had faith in social and technological advancement knwon to us as the progressive era of the 1920's. |

Diamond cutting industry, like every other field, is an ever advancing practice. The way diamonds were cut in late 1700's to Mid 1800's is now referred to as "Old European Cut". The most outstanding characteristic of this cut is: 1- High crown(upper portion of the stone when viewed from the side), 2-Deep pavilion(lower portion of the stone when viewed from the side), and 3- Open culet(The very bottom point of the pavilion). Open culet was due to the culet facet that was given mistakenly believed to make diamonds shine ever more.
